Our team

We are a cross-disciplinary company spanning field operations, biology, product development, deployment, commercialization, and systems thinking.

Blue Evolution Biointelligence grew out of work in the field, the lab, the ocean, and industrial biological systems — not from software abstraction alone.

Our advisors

Carlos Chambon

Aquaculture Systems Advisor

Carlos advises on seaweed cultivation onshore in Baja, Mexico. He has spent much of his career offshore: as a student of marine biology and aquaculture, a transatlantic sailor, a deep sea diver for sunken treasure, and as a marine assistant for the movie Titanic.

Paul Curtis

Aquaculture Engineering Advisor

Paul is an aquaculture expert who developed the non-toxic MinnFinn treatment for aquatic animal health. His consulting and fish health products company, AquaSolver, specializes in hatchery development, disease management, and RAS design and installation. Paul holds an MS in Aquaculture from the University of Guelph.

Oliver Grillmeyer, PhD

Software Engineering Advisor

Dr. Grillmeyer is an entrepreneurial software engineer with a background as a consultant and academic professional. He combines commercial savvy with technical expertise to deliver strategic solutions. Oliver holds a PhD in Science and Mathematics Education and an MS in Computer Science from UC Berkeley.

Our production leads

Nick Mangini

General Manager, Alaska

Nick has been farming kelp in Kodiak since 2016, transitioning from commercial fishing to building the Alaska mariculture industry. What started as a hobby is now his life, driven by a passion to share the opportunities kelp farming provides to the community, economy, and environment.

Emmanuel Guevara Luders

General Manager, Mexico

Emmanuel oversees business operations, leveraging over a decade of experience in mariculture technologies, industrial production, and sales. His commitment to sustainable seaweed is matched by his passion for professional scuba diving. Emmanuel holds a Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineering and Business from Universidad La Salle.

Isaac Sosa

Farm Director, Mexico

Isaac directs farm operations in Eréndira, Baja California. With a background in aquaculture biotechnology, he specializes in working with recirculation systems and the cultivation of diverse aquatic species. Isaac contributes to pilot research focused on sea vegetable production at the Universidad Autónoma de Baja California.

Why we exist

We believe human decisions should stay aligned with living systems.

We believe progress depends on making biological response more measurable, more legible, and more usable in the real world.

That is the work of Blue Evolution Biointelligence.

Our values

Listen to biology

Life speaks through response. Our job is to pay attention.

Work from evidence

What matters should be measurable, usable, and recorded.

Work in mutual partnership

What we learn should be useful without requiring surrender of sovereignty.

Respect place and sovereignty

Every living system belongs to a place, and every place has its own logic.

Build regenerative systems

The best systems renew the conditions that make them possible.

Our history

Est. 2014

Our Beginning

Blue Evolution was founded to advance seaweed cultivation as a foundation for a regenerative bioeconomy. Early work focused on species identification, cultivation methods, and ocean mapping across Alaska, Baja California, and Mexico.

2018-2024

Global Collaboration

Research partnerships and work with indigenous coastal communities expanded the company’s scientific and operational footprint. Blue Evolution scaled production while developing feedstocks and bioproducts for agriculture, materials, and health applications.

2024

A Breakthrough in Biointelligence

Advances in biological measurement, high-throughput research, and compute made it possible to see patterns in living systems with greater clarity and speed. That work led to the development of Blue Evolution Biointelligence.

2025-2026 +

Scaling Application  & R&D

Blue Evolution is now advancing Crop Biointelligence and broader bioeconomy applications while continuing to build the science, protocols, and IP foundation behind the platform.
